Welcome to the Tioga County Landowners Group website!
The Tioga County Landowners Group was organized in the summer of 2008 for the express purpose to educate ourselves and our members about the mineral right opportunities. We are an organization of 1900+ families who own 140,000+ acres of land in Tioga County, NY. At this time there are 100,000 acres available for immediate lease with additional acreage that will be available in the near term. A small percentage of our existing population is currently under lease.
We recognize and appreciate the importance of contiguous land parcels for a prospective drilling partner. We currently have in excess of 150 parcels of 400 acres each available. As our membership continues to grow, so will the amount of acres that will be available within our Group, and so will the amount of contiguous acres overall.
We seek a drilling partner who is fair and equitable, will be sensitive to our property, our community, and the environment. In exchange, you will be partnering with a coalition who is ready and willing to work with a responsible drilling partner towards a successful outcome for us all.
By partnering with the Tioga County Landowners Group, you will also be securing prime territory within the Marcellus Shale play, as well as other gas plays such as the Utica Shale. We are fortunate in that Tioga County lies within the Marcellus Shale fairway with ready access to the resources and infrastructure necessary for this world class play.
We invite you to look through these webpages to see all the advantages Tioga County offers for natural gas exploration. If you believe you are the type of drilling partner we are looking for or have any questions, then please contact us at info@tiogagaslease.org.
We look forward to building a successful partnership with you!

What Does Tioga County Geology Have To Offer You?
Tioga County offers numerous key geological advantages for natural gas exploration for our prospective drilling partner, these advantages include:
- Top Marcellus Shale (Gamma > 200API) at drilling depths from -2000’ to -3400’ subsea.
- Thick Marcellus Shale with a gross thickness from 200 to 500 feet.
- Thick Marcellus Shale with 100 to 160 feet >200 API units.
- High Marcellus Shale Total Organic Carbon content of 4.1 – 6.6%.
- The Marcellus Shale is within a dry gas window - little, if any, processing is required and there is high BTU value.
- There are excellent economics and infrastructure relative to other shale plays
- There is New York Pricing Premium (Average $1.05 to NYMEX).
The best evidence of the true potential for development comes from the counties in Pennsylvania attached to the southern border of Tioga County. Activity there has been underway since 2008. Pennsylvania reported 1992 Marcellus permits issued in 2009 with 886 permits issued in the three counties near the New York State border. The well activity and results in one county by one company are shown below.

Tioga County "Core" Geological Features - The Keys To Your Success...
|
Tioga County is located in central New York within the core Marcellus fairway just north of the Pennsylvania border. The terrain has rolling hills and abundant water provided by the Susquehanna River which traverses the county’s rural area. The entire county is in the Susquehanna River Basin and is not involved in the New York City Watershed.

| Connectivity is accomplished by several pipelines including the new thirty inch Millennium pipeline, crossing the center of Tioga County, to the New York City market slightly over 200 miles away (Tioga County is shown in green). We have a large number of properties which are located on the Millennium pipeline.

Its Only A Matter Of Time...Will YOU Be Ready?
The development of natural gas in New York State has been blocked since July 2008 while the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has studied the subject of Hydrofracing. The DEC is in the process of finalizing the document which defines the rules of engagement for New York State exploration and development of natural gas.
With the likelihood of the NYS DEC completing the SGEIS update soon, Tioga County is poised for development of natural gas with stacked targets (Marcellus shale, Oriskany /Heldeberg Sandstone, Utica Shale, Trenton Black River hydrothermal dolomite, at reasonable drilling depths, high “upside”). The geological section of Tioga County can be seen below.
